Our Work
EESDC has presented a self-produced, Toronto Season (almost) every year since 1990, and has developed an ever-expanding repertoire that has earned both critical and popular acclaim. The Company's mandate is to develop and feature Canadian artists alongside invited guest, and, in so doing, raise the artistic bar of Spanish dance and music in Canada. Notable guest artists include Raul Salcedo (2001), Antonio Grangero (2002-2004), Ramon Martinez (2006), Juan Ogalla (2008-2013, 2018), and José Maldonado (2019, 2023).

In Transcendence, art comes to life as a feeling. “We dance to try to capture that indescribable sensation we get when we look with the eyes of our soul. And in this looking, we transform, we become attentive to the sensations, we expand our being, we are no longer the same person. When art impacts us beyond what words can describe, we dance our emotions.”

Esmeralda Enrique’s renowned flamenco dance company has been an integral part of Canada’s dance and theatre culture for the past 40 years and celebrates a triumphant return to the stage with Ayer y Hoy (Yesterday and Today), Celebrating 40 Years! a retrospective of dances from the past, together with new works, archival footage, and guest artists.
